The cervix is the lowest part of the uterus and actually connects the uterus to the vagina. Abnormal growth of cervical cells can lead to cervical cancer and may spread to other organs, including the lungs, liver, bladder, vagina, and rectum. Although cervical cancer grows slowly, its early detection reduces the complications of it. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer and the fourth leading cause of death among women and occurs mostly in the third, fourth and fifth decades of women’s lives.
